Oh, have I got a story for you! And this one was so super fun to write too.

What’s it about? I’m glad you asked! Here it is in a nutshell:

When a pastor with an unusual kink is found murdered in his own church, Laci is hired by his sister to retrieve a painting he helped make while having sex with an artist.

But as Laci begins to investigate the day the pastor was killed, the real question becomes who had the most to gain from his death. The artist who needed his painting or the sister who needed his church?

To uncover the truth, Laci will have to make her own erotic painting while making erotic love, which means getting naked, getting naughty, and getting nasty with paint.

It’s mysterious. It’s suspenseful. And it’s very erotic!

And there are a couple of things you might find interesting when you read the story. Here are four fun facts about The Simple Art of Lust.

Fact #1 … Raymond Chandler was My Muse!

The title is a nod to the great pulp fiction writer Raymond Chandler who penned, among other things, an essay entitled “The Simple Art of Murder.” Chandler was a prolific writer of mysteries and, along with Dashiell Hammett, popularized the notion of the hard-boiled detective in the early 20th century. I wouldn’t exactly say Laci Kicklighter is hard-boiled, but she does seem to be able to handle her own when she needs to. So thank you, Raymond Chandler, for the inspiration for the title of The Simple Art of Lust.

“Laci Kicklighter is the lustful heroine I didn’t know I needed... She’s smart, dangerous, and oh-so-sexy.”
— Logan Black, author of THE MONEY SHOT

Fact #2 … Part of the Story is True

Yes, in fact, there really was an avant-garde artist named Yves Klein in the 1950s and 60s, and you might say he was my muse too. I won’t say much more than that. I mean, it’d be better if you read the story first. But everything I write about Yves Klein really happened. Gosh, I wish I’d known him! And I have a feeling he would’ve enjoyed reading The Simple Art of Lust.

Fact #3 … The Name is Part of the Game

The name of a character can often imply to the discerning reader more about the character. For example, Oscar Wilde chose Dorian Gray as the name of his scandalous protagonist in his acclaimed novel because the Ancient Greek Dorians celebrated the love between two men. In much the same way, the name Hedy Kuntsler in The Simple Art of Lust also has a meaning that is imported into the story. The name Hedy comes from the Greek and means “pleasing” or “pleasure.” Kuntsler is a German surname that means “artist.” Thus, Hedy Kuntsler is what her name implies, a pleasure artist!

Fact #4 … The Best Part of Writing The Simple Art of Lust was the Research!

There was a lot of research that went into this story, some of it cerebral and some of it more along the lines of … well, let’s say, more physical. ;-) Hey, you know what they say, write what you know. How was I gonna write about a pleasure artist if I didn’t do a little research? And oh, what fun it was to research! Let me know if you want to know how you can do your own research, and I’ll share my secret with you.

The Simple Art of Lust releases in ebook and print on July 24th. Order your copy and settle in for a good ol’ fashioned erotic mystery. It’s dangerous. It’s daring. And it’s downright dirty!
